FLUSSO dance is collaborating with Alwan for the arts to present a preview of an interdisciplinary performance by its artists in residence in a modern day re-interpretation of the One Thousand and One Nights.
This interdisciplinary work in progress exploring the Thousand and One Nights performance is inspired by the notion of the Middle Eastern expression of tarab, an interaction that attempts to articulate the unconstrained connection between performer and audience experience, highlighting universal themes essential to Islamic culture.
Friday's preview is meant to create yet another night in the One Thousand and One Nights and provoke tarab-like affinities and connections between performers and audience that fluctuate between forms, ideas, moments, times, locations, and perspectives.
