Vanessa Tamburi began her career at the National Dance Academy of Rome and went on to study at Mudra, the school directed by M. Bejart, in Brussels. She has worked as a solo dancer for key European theatres, including the Ballet of Montercarlo (direction of P. Lacotte, J.Y. Esquerre, J.C. Maillot), the Hamburg Ballet (direction of J. Neumeier), and the Vienna Opera Ballet (direction of R. Zanella). Building on her professional experience as a classical dancer, Vanessa, over the years, developed experimental contemporary choreographic work, melding dance with contemporary theatre, visual and multimedia art. Her choreographies have been performed in Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Rwanda, and Tanzania, and in collaboration with numerous theatres they were staged at international festivals in Vienna, Linz, Venice (Biennale Danza), Spoleto (Festival Dei Due Mondi), Prague, Rome (Rome Philharmonic and Auditorium, Park of Music), Tagliacozzo (Middle Summer Festival), and Dar es Salaam. After working as artistic director of the "Contemporaneamente Dance Group", she established the Company "FLUSSO Dance Project", of which she is currently artistic director and choreographer. In 2008 she contributed, as Artistic Advisor, to the creation, and then the organization of the 2009-2010-2011 editions, of the Visa 2 Dance International contemporary dance festival, in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). In June 2010, Vanessa was selected and participated to CHOREOGRAPHIC COLLISIONS: a laboratory of research and experimentation for choreographers, directed by Ismael Ivo, organized by DANZA VENEZIA and part of the program of the BIENNALE DANZA in Venice. 

She lived and worked in New York City from 2011 to 2017 and recently she moved to Part Moresby in Papua New Guinea.

Her work has been presented in various NYC festivals ( Cool NY 2012&2013 dance festival, NYC10 Dixon Place, Between the seas Festival, Green line platform 92nd Y and Off center dance theatre).

In July 2013 THE BRIDGE premiered at the Between the seas festival 2013, NY with the support of the Italian Culture Institute NY as well as the new creation TRAPPING @ the Moving sound festival, NY (September 2013) promoted by The Austrian Cultural forum in collaboration with the Brooklyn based visual artist Andrea Bianconi. In 2014 FLUSSO dance has staged performances at the CURRENTS SESSIONS @ Wild project, REVERBdance Festival @ Baruch Performing arts center, KoDaFe in NYC 2014@ MMAC NY, Ticino in danza festival, Time2dance Festival & The Dance Gallery festival NYC.

In 2015 THE THOUSAND and ONE NIGHT was presented in preview on Feb 2015 @Alwan for the Arts and ME_CHANICAL# moving images @ Wild project within The CURRENT SESSIONS 2015. In May 2015 she lauched IDaCo nyc - Italian Dance Connection of which she is the founder and the Artistic Director. In this new platform of Dance & Art, she presented ME_CHANICAL# moving images, TUNNEL CITY, & ID ENTITIES (2016). In November she created UTAMBULISHO for the MuDa Africa Students showed @ the Time 2dance Festival, Tanzania. In December she toured to Washington with BAROCCO & CO DUO @ the Smithsonian American Art Museum , Washington for the Italian Holiday Traditions Festival.

IDACO nyc event week has been realized further on 2016 -2017-2018 and 2019.

From 2018 to 2021 Vanessa lived in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea where she realized MY STORY for the Human Rights Film Festival.

In 2021 she moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she is currently living and working in various contemporary dance projects in collaboration with the Teresa Carreno Danza Contemporanea and the Compania Nacional de Danza.

In September 2022 Vanessa opened ETworks, an Art Studio/Gallery in Rome dedicated to her father Ennio Tamburi, one of the major exponent of the Modern Art in Italy.
